A man staying at house with drug activity tries to outrun Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit agents when they approach the home. 36-year-old Donavan Rutledge of Rainbow City took off running after authorities came near the home he was at on Chestnut Street in Gadsden. Agents pursued Rutledge on foot and saw him toss a gun to the ground as he was running.  Rutledge was captured a short distance later. Rutledge is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of salvia. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of heroin and a loaded 9-millimeter gun. Rutledge is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center.
