Black History Wax Museum
W.E. Striplin Elementary in Gadsden hosts a live educational program called the Black History Wax Museum that allows students to learn and speak about Black culture and history through performances and dramatic characterizations of historic and current African Americans. Principal Delsia Malone says the students learn far more from this educational program. She says they explore the African American experience and accomplishments of the past and present. Malone says students are specially selected by her to make history come alive. She says the community has truly rallied around the effort. Parents and teachers have come together to help the students reflect the mission of the day, and that mission is to promote understanding and inspire appreciation of African American history and culture. The exhibit will continue tomorrow and will re-open on February 9th.
