Area children are getting the opportunity to spread the Valentine’s Day love this month – making cards-of love that will be given to residents of retirement homes and members of the local homebound community. The card making is taking place at the Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County. The name of the program is Have-A-Heart. And it is in its third year. Youth Services Head Alaina Browning is new to the library-she comes from Tuscaloosa and has been on staff for only one week but, she says she has never seen a program like it. She says she enjoys being able to give to communities that need the simple gesture. The library is still inviting children to come in and make a heart that the local Boy Scouts and local Girl Scouts will deliver. Browning says come to the Children’s Section and if you finish a Valentine’s Day card, you will receive a treat. The program is free and largely funded by the local CARES office. If you’d like your child to participate remember, you have time. The library closes at 5-PM on Friday.
