Man Arrested for Theft of Property

A man is accused of stealing a truck in December, drives it to Louisiana and then uses the victim’s identification to cash checks written on a closed account. Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says, 58-year-old Barry Drenner of Gadsden is charged with one count of First Degree Theft of Property-a felony. He is also charged with one count of Third Degree Theft of Property – a misdemeanor. Drenner is accused of taking the 2005 Toyota Tacoma without permission from the rightful owner. Drenner was taken into custody in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and brought back to Etowah County to face charges. He is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $6,000 bond.
