Avian Flu Warning

Alabama Cooperative Extension System specialists have recommended that poultry owners keep a close eye on their flock after the first case of avian influenza was reported this year and State Department of Agriculture officials agree, they say they routinely check for disease such as bird flu. But extension specialist in the Poultry Science Department at Auburn says the 2015 and 2016 strains are different; and poultry found to be highly pathogenic have a higher mortality rate.
