Bond Reduction Hearing for Two Men Charged with Murder

The two men charged with the fatal shooting of a Saks man in January were in court today on a bond reduction request hearing. Calhoun County District Court Judge Chris McIntyre heard testimony from the wife of shooting victim. Judge McIntyre also heard testimony from people for the defense. The victim’s uncle, Charles Barclay says he hopes that there are more charges to come. During the hearing, Judge McIntyre took into consideration the reduction of bond for 23-year-old Joel Abbott and 23-year-old Joshua Parker. Both Abbott and Parker have a 5-hundred-thousand-dollar bond. Both Abbott and Parker were arrested in connection with the death of 42-year-old Deatrice Barclay, who was gunned down in January in his yard at 403 Permita Court in Anniston. A ruling will be made tomorrow morning.
