The Alabama House of Representatives awards approval to a ground-breaking wireless broadband school technology bill. The Wireless Infrastructure Renovation for Education Act, which is more commonly known as the WIRED Act would provide wireless broadband access in all of the state’s K through 12 public schools. The WIRED Act will provide grants to local school systems for the purchase, installation, or upgrade of wireless broadband infrastructure by leveraging available federal e-rate dollars. The bill, sponsored by State Representative Donnie Chesteen is included in the House Republican Caucus’s “Right for Alabama Agenda”. The bill now goes to the State Senate for consideration.
