Calhoun County Arbor Week

Friday, February 26, 2016

Calhoun County Arbor Week works to unite community members, cities, and businesses to educate Alabamians on the value trees provide to building successful, healthy cities and neighborhoods. Calhoun County Extension Coordinator Dr. David West says Arbor Week is an important message every day of the year, but this week is a chance for members of the local community of all ages to celebrate our natural wonders and most treasured resources together. So, West says to come out and get some free trees at a local Arbor Day event near you! Arbor Week enthusiasts say trees are a valuable economic asset in our cities and towns and play a role in energy conservation, improving air quality, protecting water resources, providing habitat, and contributing to the overall health of people.
