Eight people have been arrested in connection with the trafficking of drugs. They have each been charged with trafficking methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Their bonds have been set at $50,000 each. 35-year-old Thomas Sprayberry of Hokes Bluff, 33-year-old Kelli Hutchins of Guntersville, 19-year-old Elijah Christmas of Southside, 37-year-old Garry Horne of Gadsden, 25-year-old Christian Brooks of Attalla, 33-year-old James Myers of Glencoe, 28-year-old Dustin Lodge of Gadsden, and 26-year-old Kayla Smith of Attalla were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation of the trafficking and importation of methamphetamine in the Etowah County area. On Tuesday Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Agents received information about drugs being transported to Gadsden in a certain automobile. Agents located the automobile at the Garden Inn Motel on Hwy 77 in Gadsden. Further investigation revealed the driver of the automobile was in a room upstairs. Agents made contact with the driver, Thomas Sprayberry, and found seven other people in the room. During a search of the room, Agents recovered over three ounces of methamphetamine along with numerous amounts drug paraphernalia. A loaded handgun was recovered from Kelli Hutchins.
