Calhoun County Commission Meeting


The Calhoun County Commission is considering a bid for the soft drink scoreboard at the Calhoun County Sports Complex. There is only one bid and it is from the Coca-Cola United Bottling Company. The bid was for more than forty-five thousand dollars. The bid will also include the purchase of a four-thousand-dollar ice machine and other equipment. The County will receive twenty-percent of all snack sales at the complex. In other commission business. The Calhoun County Commission presented a local, retired, Anniston City Schools’ employee and community leader with an award recognizing his outstanding work and sacrifice. Today, Harold Washington was awarded a Calhoun County Commission Proclamation. Anniston City Schools Superintendent Darren Douthitt read the proclamation to those in attendance. The wife of Harold Washington was at the meeting to accept the plaque in his absence. Also on hand to support Washington’s recognition were Washington’s friends and fellow school system employees.
