Local B.O.E. Votes on the Future of Schools

The Anniston Board of Education votes to close Constantine Elementary and turn Cobb Elementary into a pre-k academy in a cost-cutting effort. According to Anniston City Schools Superintendent Darren Douthitt, the board voted 4 to 1. The decision will affect hundreds of students in Anniston. Having fewer schools open will save the district hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now, the petition is set to go to the Department of Justice.
