Arson may be the cause of an East Gadsden fire that gutted a home, overnight. According to Fire Marshal Jason Talton, firefighters spent one hour fighting a fire on Maryland Avenue. Talton says this is the fifth fire in Gadsden since last Wednesday. He adds this is the second fire at the same address. The first fire took place on March 4th. Investigators say last night’s fire destroyed part of the roof and several rooms. The home was already declared a loss. Talton says no one was living at the home, and in fact power had been shut off to the home. The people who lived in the home escaped the first fire without injury.
