JSU Hosts NFL Scouts For Pro Day
More than twenty former JSU players took one more step towards their dreams of playing professional football. Scouts from almost every NFL team were on hand evaluating the Gamecocks at Pro Day Tuesday morning. Some of the headliners are: defensive lineman Chris Landrum (who can also play linebacker), wide receiver Ruben Gonzalez (who ran a 4.5 40 yard dash) and defensive tackle Devaunte Sigler. Running back Troymaine Pope has spent his entire football career in Calhoun County. After starring at Anniston High School, Pope was a record setting back for the Gamecocks. Today he posted a 4.49 40-yard dash and was very impressive in the weight room with strength and agility drills.
All the players hope their showing today can earn them a spot on an NFL roster in a few months. The NFL Draft is set for April 28th.
