Update: Chief Ladiga Trail Sinkhole

The Chief Ladiga Trail sinkhole is growing, and growing. Two sections of the trail’s asphalt caved in. Today, TV24 talked to one of Calhoun County’s Commissioners at the commission meeting about its progress. District Five County Commissioner Lee Patterson says a county engineer has probed the sinkhole and they are waiting on a status report from a geologist.Patterson says the trail problem should include the input and help of the entire county. The Chief Ladiga Trail is Alabama’s first rails-to-trails project. The 33-mile trail stretches from the Alabama-Georgia state line to Anniston. There will soon be a 90-mile corridor available for non-motorized travel from just west of Atlanta, Georgia to Anniston, Alabama.
