Woman Charged with Chemical Endangerment of a Child

An Etowah County woman is in jail on charges that she took drugs while pregnant. 34-year-old Corrie Biggar of Gadsden is charged with chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed. Investigators say Biggar admitted to illegally using methamphetamine a week before giving birth and taking pain medication, Norco, one day before the delivery of her baby. Biggar tested positive for methamphetamine and the pain medication. Her baby tested positive for methamphetamine, opiates and marijuana. She is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond. Upon release, Biggar will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must successfully complete a treatment program. She is also being held on a failure to appear warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
