The Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency continues its ongoing efforts to maintain the highest levels of community preparedness by testing and evaluating emergency response with a full-scale exercise. The Calhoun County EMA, along with RMC hospitals, Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, several other agencies and organizations engaged in the emergency response exercise. RMC Emergency Preparedness Coordinator George says the exercise helps prepare them to take care of patients when a disaster happens. Calhoun County EMA Director Jonathan Gaddy says the exercise tested areas such as operational communications, operational coordination, situational assessment, mass care and emergency operations center management. The exercise included volunteers from Gadsden State Community College, Piedmont High School, and several nursing schools.
