JSU's Josh Bobo Named OVC Player of the Week

Jacksonville State junior Josh Bobo was named the Co-Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after batting over .500 for the week and leading JSU to four wins, including a key three-game sweep of Austin Peay over the weekend.

Bobo paced the Gamecock lineup in the four wins last week with an 8-for-15 performance at the plate, including four extra base hits. The Attalla, Alabama native hit .533 with four runs scored, four doubles, a triple, five RBI, a .933 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage. Bobo started the week by going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in a victory over Oral Roberts. He opened the three-game series with Austin Peay with a double inFriday's 6-1 victory and in Saturday's 8-5 win, Bobo had two hits and scored a run.

He concluded the week with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double, triple and five RBI in the team's 25-12 victory over the Govs. Bobo also played errorless baseball at third base. The 25 runs scored by Jax State set a program record for runs scored in an OVC contest.
Bobo shared the weekly honor with Southeast Missouri's Hunter Leeper, who also collected eight hits in guiding the Redhawks to four wins. SEMO's Jacob Lawrence was named the OVC Pitcher of the Week.

JSU will take a seven-game winning streak into Tuesday's in-state match up with Samford. First pitch from Joe Lee Griffin Field is set for 6 p.m. The Gamecocks return to OVC action on Thursday in Charleston, Illinois as they open a three-game set with the Panthers of Eastern Illinois. All four games will be available on the Gamecock Sports Network.
