The Pell City Police Department unveils a monument for a Pell City police officer who suffered a fatal heart attack last year while saving one of two girls trapped inside the car of a two-vehicle crash. Lieutenant Richard Woods suffered a heart attack and later died at Saint Vincent’s Saint Clair’s Emergency Room. Lieutenant Woods had served in the police department since 2005. He was 48-years-old and was survived by his wife and two sons. The consensus of those attending the ceremony was that he was amazing. The monument stands at the Pell City Police Department.
