Chamber Tours National Guard Training Center
The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce visits the Fort McClellan Pelham Range Army National Guard Training Center. Today was the chamber’s monthly meeting and they toured the simulation center of real scenarios, the structural collapse simulator, the live fire shoot house, and the EOD Center of Excellence. Military and Security Affairs Committee Co Chairman Joel Denney says the chamber interest is fueled by community support of the military and security operations in the area. Denney says it is important that Calhoun County looks forward to the future because base realignment and closure actions could take place as soon as 2019. Fort McClellan National Guard Training Center Director Colonel Curtis Faulk says the installations train more than 58,000 people.Denney says next month the Center for Domestic Preparedness will sponsor a Business and Biscuit meeting which will acquaint members with their missions and activities. And later in the Spring there will be an event with the Theater Sustainment Command. And finally, on the first of September the Anniston Army Depot will celebrate its seventy-fifth anniversary with a public opening of its installation.
