State Parks Announce Seasonal Openings

Some state parks that were closed last fall have reopened through local partnerships. And that means…This spring brings a return to normal operational hours for Cheaha state park. Alabama State Park officials say Legislative transfers in 2015 required a seasonal schedule for select state parks that included closing Cheaha hotels and restaurants during winter months. Cheaha State Park Assistant Superintendent and Park Ranger Justin Howard says, now, Cheaha State Park hotel and restaurant are currently open seven days a week. Howard adds people are encouraged to visit state parks as often as possible during the seasonal openings. Bryan Dewulf brought his family from Valley, Alabama to hike and take pictures at Bald Rock and Pulpit Rock. Dewulf says his children have enjoyed all of the activities including the mining stations. About 90 percent of the annual funding to operate Cheaha State Park comes from user fees such as lodging, gate entries, camping and meeting space rentals.
