According to a recent national survey, almost 1 in 10 adults in Alabama has been diagnosed with diabetes. Current estimates indicate that more than 333,000 Alabamians have been diagnosed with diabetes. Today, a program brought to the community by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System designed to work in collaboration with other programs to help people delay or prevent development of diabetes and to reduce complications related to the disease held its Diabetic Cooking School at the Calhoun County Extension Auditorium. Over the next two days the program will delve into good nutrition, physical activity, and weight loss - all key factors to control, prevent, delay, or manage diabetes and help people live longer, healthier lives. Burton says all are invited to attend. The sessions will be held from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at the Calhoun County Administration Building.
