National Child Abuse Prevention Month
A local child protection agency places pinwheels in the ground to acknowledge National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each April during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Calhoun – Cleburne Children’s Center coordinates a community-wide awareness program. Pinwheels representing every child victim of abuse are placed on Quintard Avenue, blue ribbons are displayed and t-shirts are produced signifying the community’s fight against child abuse. The purpose of this campaign is also to generate financial support to fund services for these children. Social Workers, Law enforcement personnel, fellow child protection agencies, and volunteers gathered to recognize the campaign. This year, 463 pinwheels were placed. The pinwheels are displayed at the corner of 9th Street and Quintard.
