Alabama Cycling Classic

The Alabama Cycling Classic returns to the City of Anniston for the fourteenth year. Anniston will host a weekend of bicycle races, music, food and family activities. The Alabama Cycling Classic will take place on Saturday, April 2, to Sunday, April 3. To kick off the popular and highly anticipated spring weekend of events, the Sunny King Criterium and Noble Street Festival hosted a press conference today at the newly renovated Hotel Finial with Anniston city officials, event organizers, elite and professional cyclists, and title sponsor Sunny King Automotive. Mayor Vaughn Stewart says the event is helping to change the culture of the city and is bringing it international attention. The Alabama Cycling Classic combines Saturday’s Sunny King Criterium with Sunday’s McClellan Road Race for two full days of exciting road racing. Pro athletes returning for the races this year include 2015 winner of the Sunny King Criterium Ty Magner of UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling and Canadian Jamie Gilgen of Visit Dallas DNA Pro Cycling, who won the women’s criterium at the 2016 Chico Stage Race. A portion of proceeds from all bicycle race registration fees will be donated to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life chapter of Calhoun County. More than $100,000 has been raised for cancer research and patient support.
