JSU Nursing to Host Run/Walk for Your Life 5k

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

A local college of nursing is asking its community to run or walk for their lives and help raise money for future nurses. The Jacksonville State University College of Nursing will host its second annual Run/Walk for Your Life 5K and first annual 1 Mile Fun Run on campus April 9 at 8 a.m. College of Nursing Dean Christie Shelton says you can join Cocky, the JSU Pep Band and Greg Burgess from the Rick and Bubba Show for a fun-filled event supporting education. Shelton says after expenses, the 2015 event raised more than $6,800. And they were able to award a $2,000 scholarship to a local nursing student. Some of the funds were deposited into the Foundation to support this year’s race. In the future, Shelton said the college hopes to offer scholarships to students in all three of its nursing programs. If you are interested in signing up… Registration is now open for the event. You can register through April 6, the entry fee is $20 for the general public and $15 for JSU students, faculty, staff and members of the Anniston-Gadsden Runners Club. On race day, registration is $25 for all participants. The cost for the 1 mile fun run is $10. For more information or to register, visit jsu.edu/nursing.
