Tax Incentive Certification Approval for Developer

The Anniston City Council approves certification for a developer to receive tax incentives for the old Anniston Kmart. According to Ward 3 Anniston City Councilman Seyram Selase, the developer will receive the incentives once he opens new businesses in the vacant department store building. Mississippi-based Second Street Plaza is the developer. They can now apply for a bank loan to cover building renovation costs. The certification is the last step in the Anniston’s $3-million sales tax rebate contract to help Second Street bring new businesses into the old building.
