Touch-a-Truck Event

Pre-Kindergarten students through Second Graders experience a hands-on learning experience. They explored a variety of large trucks, recreational vehicles, utilitiy vehicles, and emergency vehicles with the Touch-A-Truck program at the Anniston Municipal Airport. The Alabama Power Service Organization in partnership with The Oxford Education Foundation invited students from Coldwater Elementary, Dearmanville Elementary, and Oxford Elementary Schools to explore, learn and touch. Dearmanville Elementary School First Grade teacher Jennifer Patterson says today’s experience has started a dialogue between teacher and student on what kind of professional pursuits students will have. Alabama Power Service Organization President Jacki Lowry says today’s Touch-A-Truck program is their first-ever. She says they had 15 stations of local businesses that brought the heavy machinery. More than 1,000 students attended today’s event.
