Calhoun Co. Commission Honors Sacred Heart Hoops

The Calhoun County Commissioners honored the Sacred Heart boys basketball team at the morning’s meeting. Each player received a certificate of achievement for capturing the Class 1A state championship last month. Commissioner Tim Hodges also read a proclamation that will be displayed at the school. This marks the Cardinals second straight title and head coach Ralpheal Graves says it's an honor to represent the county as state champs once again.

The trip to the Commission meeting also serves as an short educational field trip as the players observe the operations of local government. Graves says it is great for the players to get to meet the political figures for the community and county.

The Cardinals return four starters from the state championship team, so if all works out well they could be meeting with the commissioners for a third straight time next year.
