Local Woman Charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child


The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office working in conjunction with the Etowah County Sheriff's Office arrest a woman for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The four year old child was found walking alone on Hwy 278 near the Calhoun Etowah County line. According to Chief Deputy Matthew Wade, the mother had been using methamphetamine. The mother is Lisa Franklin of Crain Circle in Piedmont. Wade said Franklin had smoked methamphetamine the night before, which allowed the child to wander away. Franklin is being held in the Calhoun County Jail on child abuse charges with a bond of $7,500. The young child is safe and in DHR custody.
