Collier Files Lawsuit Against Governor


Former Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Secretary Spencer Collier today filed a nine-count civil lawsuit against Governor Robert Bentley, Bentley’s former top aide Rebekah Mason and the man Bentley picked to replace Collier, Stan Stabler. The lawsuit alleges that Collier has suffered financial and personal harm as a result of wrongful termination and defamation, among other counts, and seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. Collier’s lawsuit also names as defendants Mason’s RCM Communications, Bentley for Governor Inc., and the Alabama Council for Excellent Government. Governor Bentley released a statement on the Collier lawsuit, today, saying in part: "Mr. Collier was terminated of his duties at ALEA for cause. Once the facts and circumstances become public, I am confident that the justification for terminating him will be shown..."
