New Booking Fee On People Jailed in Etowah County

Saturday, April 30, 2016

The Alabama House passed a bill yesterday that would impose a $30 booking fee on people jailed and convicted of a crime in Etowah County. Money from the bill would be divided between the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, receiving $20, and the circuit clerk’s office and the district attorney’s office, each receiving $5. The $20 would go into the sheriff’s office law enforcement fund, to be used for salaries, training, operational expenses and other law enforcement needs as determined by the sheriff. The money going to the circuit clerk and the district attorney’s office would be used for office operations.
