Today, students and faculty of Anniston High School host an Anniston City Council meeting. This was the school’s Youth In Government Day and students were able to see what government looked like up close and in person. Vice Mayor Seyram Selase says during the meeting the council discussed the bingo amendment which would increase the maximum amount of prizes available in Calhoun County bingo games. He says the local legislation is in its infancy stage and any legislation presented would require language that would move any money made from bingo towards education. Selase says the Anniston City Council will meet again to purposefully discuss the amendment. He says the city does not yet have an organization in place to run any bingo establishment.
