The Choice Bus at Wellborn High School

Seventh through ninth grade students from Wellborn High School board The Choice Bus and receive a firsthand look at the results of bad choices. The half-prison cell, half-classroom school bus, is one of six tools created by The Mattie C. Stewart Foundation devoted to helping reduce the dropout rate in the United States. Lead Presenter Chet Pennock says the bus and presentation help students dig deep into thinking about their futures and the decisions they will make. Teachers and students say connecting education to future lifetime earning potential and career goals is part of what the experience strives to encourage. Since 2008, The Choice Bus has visited more than 2-million students in 21 states.
