Southside Softball Ready For State Championships

Thursday, May 19, 2016

The high school softball state championships are underway in Montgomery. Seven local teams are in the mix including top-ranked Southside (who begins play Thursday morning).

TV24 Sports caught up with the Lady Panthers Wednesday afternoon in their final practice session on campus before heading south. The Panthers face Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa in the first round of the double elimination tournament tomorrow at 10:30 am. Southside spent most of the season as the No. 1 team in Class 6A and they say team chemistry is a big part of their success and they’re ready to handle business.

This marks the third straight season the Panthers season advances all the way to the Elite Eight. They will lean on their experience in previous seasons to help them out this time around as they take aim at the ultimate prize.
