We count on doctors and hospitals to help us when we are sick. But a new study is raising concerns about the quality of care. Medical mishaps are a serious issue. A new study from doctors at Johns Hopkins, suggests medical errors may kill at least 250-thousand people a year…Making it the third leading cause of death in the United States. Previous studies have put the number much lower, from 44-thousand to 195-thousand. One reason there’s such a wide range of numbers is because accurate data on these kinds of deaths is surprisingly scarce. The doctors behind the study hope their analysis will lead to real reform in the health care system.
