The Anniston Army Depot observes Memorial Day at McClellan Cemetery. In honor of America’s Veterans, Anniston Army Depot hosted a wreath-laying ceremony at the Cemetery which is located on the former Fort McClellan property. Depot Commander, Colonel Martine Kidd spoke at the event. She says today’s ceremony is a tremendous expression of patriotism. Area veterans attended the event. Anniston City Manager Brian Johnson says he served alongside people who payed the ultimate price. He say he had four soldiers serving under his command in Iraq who gave their lives for the nation’s freedom.Veteran Kenneth Burton says he often thinks of his uncle who sacrificed his life so that he could enjoy the life he has today. Burton served for 20 years and he says his involvement in today’s ceremony is a salute and thank you for their service. The ceremony also included a small number of depot employees placing American flags on the 355 graves.
