Updated information on local traffic flow from the Alabama Department of Transportation after a delay in the routing of traffic on the eastern bypass. Weather permitting, tomorrow, the Alabama Department of Transportation and its contractor will shift US 431 southbound traffic into the southbound lanes where traffic will run permanently in the Saks area. The US 431 northbound traffic will continue to travel in its current location until the new pavement is placed in the northbound lane. The northbound traffic will then be shifted to the inside to pave the outside lane. On Friday, weather permitting the old US 431 connector and Lindale Drive will be opened and the traffic signal will be turned on once the concrete barriers are removed. This will be the last major shift in traffic flow, although there will be temporary lane closures in order to finish some items within the project.
