At just 22-years old, Jackson Stephens is the youngest player on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos roster but he is making some serious noise. The former Oxford star was named to the 2016 South Division All-Star team roster this week. He is one of four Blue Wahoos named to the All-Star team. Alejandro Chacin, Brandon Dixon, Amir Garrett were the others named to the roster.
Stephens is the first starter to reach five wins in 2016. He is currently 5-4 with a 3.36 ERA. Stephens has made vast strides since the first month of the season. In April, he went 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA over four starts. In May Stephens went 4-1 with a 2.00 ERA in six starts. Opponents hit just .195 against Stephens in the second month of the season during which he rattled off three straight wins.
Players were selected by a vote of league field managers, radio broadcasters, general managers and print media. The Southern League All-Star game takes place on Tuesday, June 21 in Pearl, Mississippi.
