A man is accused of trying to force the car of a mother and her children off the road into a ditch after a custody dispute in Cedar Bluff. Jeremiah Elkins was arrested and charged with first degree criminal mischief and four counts of reckless endangerment after he is believed to have caused an accident on Highway 35. The incident took place after an argument between the children’s mother and father at a local motel. The mother of the children refused to let the children stay with their father and left, traveling toward Gaylesville. The father asked Elkins, a friend of his, to chase the vehicle. Elkins was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center by Cedar Bluff Police, where he awaits bond.
