School Resource Officers

Thursday, June 16, 2016

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin is asking Etowah County Commissioners to assume the future cost of three School Resource Officers. The three SRO’s are currently being paid under the terms of a 2013 federal grant, but that money will run out in August, and the terms of the grant require that local officials continue to pay for the positions for one year past the end of the grant. Entrekin asked the commission to continue paying the officers indefinitely. He says that SRO’s do much more than enforce the law and are an important part of today’s educational system.
