Etowah County authorities charge a man and a woman with the murder of 23-year -old Wesley Adam Clifton who was reported missing earlier this week. Clifton’s body was found in a shallow grave Wednesday outside Boaz. According to the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Parker of Boaz, and Amber McCoy of Albertville, were arrested yesterday and charged today with the murder of Clifton, each has a bond of $250,000. At a press conference today, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Director of Communications Natalie Barton says Clifton’s body was found near a pond next to chicken houses off Black Bottom Road, just beyond the Boaz city limits in Etowah County. Investigators say they found the grave about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a source provided information that led to a search warrant at a home at 310 Black Bottom Road. Evidence was found inside the house and Parker was taken into custody. McCoy was later arrested at Marshall Medical Center South. Barton says Clifton’s red 1995 Honda Accord was found about six miles away from where his body was discovered, parked in a wooded area near the intersection of Cove Springs Road and Little Cove Road. Etowah County District Attorney Jody Willoughby says words cannot express his sympathy for Clifton’s family. Investigators say they are still working to determine the relationship between Clifton and the two people charged, but that they were acquaintances. Barton says there may be additional charges and suspects to follow.
