The Jacksonville State University Center for Economic Development and Business Research recently conducted a study that provided specialized assistance to local government. At today’s Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee meeting the university presented its economic impact study findings. The study showed the economic effect of the Anniston Army Depot, the Center for Domestic Preparedness, and the National Guard Training Center on Calhoun County and the state. It included multiple perception surveys and analysis, resource consulting, and project feasibility analysis. Director Jennifer Green says the nine month study showcased each installations regional influence. Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee Co-Chair Greg Brown says they haven’t seen the full study yet, but he anticipates there will be a tremendous amount of data that the Chamber will draw from going forward. The total economic output for the military in Calhoun County is $968,000,000 and $1.3 billion for the state.
