Permanent shelter for Anniston’s homeless and low-income families is one step closer to completion. The Right Place cottages project has cement laid and parameters set. Director, Lori Floyd says the affordable housing units are for people with some income. She says they have four cottages and 27 applicants. The area is zoned for six cottages and she hopes that eventually the agency will be able to expand the project. But, for now, four families will have a safe environment that they will be able to call home. Floyd says when complete, the units will be move in ready. She says The Right Place will work with the families to create household budgets, conduct job searches, and improve job skills. She says the important goal is teaching the families to maintain a home. Floyd says people and organizations can adopt a unit. You can adopt a living room, the kitchen, or the whole place.
