Gadsden City Council Approves Community Center

The Gadsden City Council approves a resolution for a new community center in East Gadsden. According to Engineering Department Director Heath Williamson, the building of a new center will be a $3 to $4 million project. Williamson says, the project, will be located near US 431 and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. The city hopes to leave the existing structure standing until the new one is built so that services won’t be interrupted. He adds it’s expected to take a year for preliminary work and design and another year for construction. Williamson says it is an exciting opportunity for the community.
