Take a look at what’s lurking in the waters of the Hillabee Reservoir in Oxford. After this video showing a gator in the water went viral, officials closed the popular fishing spot over the holiday weekend. The Hillabee Reservoir will remain closed while officials try to determine what to do about the alligators. The Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board controls the body of water. People in the area say they’ve known about the reptiles in the reservoir, but they had no idea they were so large. A water works board official tells TV24 they are now working to determine exactly how many gators are in the water, and the best method to remove them. After that’s complete, the Hillabee Reservoir will reopen for fishing and boating.
