The Alabama Department of Public Health warns about several fish in local counties. According to the report, several types of fish caught in Talladega and Saint Clair counties should not be eaten at all. Choccolocco Creek between Oxford and Logan Martin Dam is particularly high in P-C-Bs. No fish caught in this area should be eaten. That also applies to the area of the creek around the Talladega County Road 399 Bridge, where the water contains both P-C-Bs and mercury, and that includes the creek embayment 1 mile upstream from the confluence with the lake.
