The city of Ohatchee has a new wastewater treatment system. The system is located at the intersection of Alabama Highways 144 and 77 and is made up of large metal freight containers equipped to handle the filtration of more than ten thousand gallons of wastewater pumped from area businesses and city offices. Officials say Ohatchee could treat up to 45,000 gallons of wastewater per day. According to Mayor Steve Baswell, the system cost nearly a half-million dollars.
