Oxford's Mayor Set to Retire

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

Oxford's longtime leader, Mayor Leon Smith will not seek another term in office. Thanks for joining us, I’m Carl Brady. Smith announced his decision in a letter today. It thanks the people of Oxford for their support over the years. Smith goes on to say he wants what's best for the city of Oxford, and he offers support to longtime city finance director Alton Craft in his bid for the office. Smith first took office in 1984. His retirement takes effect on November 1. To read the Mayor's letter in its entirety, visit the TV24 page on Facebook.
