FOCUS 2016 at GSCC

New students at Gadsden State Community College attend a free half-day orientation known as "Freshmen Opportunities for College and Unlimited Success" or Gadsden State’s FOCUS 2016. Organizers say these sessions are strongly encouraged for all incoming students who entered Gadsden State this summer or who plan to enter this fall semester. Outreach Adviser and Coordinator Kathy Gillison says FOCUS events are designed to enhance students’ college experience. They will have the opportunity to meet other incoming students, faculty and staff, explore academic options, and go on a guided tour of a Gadsden State campus. Student Government Association Vice President Jasmine Adams says students will also have an opportunity to meet their advisor to plan their program of study if they have not already registered. She adds that these sessions complement the Cardinal Commit session held in April. Adams is a second year student and says she felt comfortable when she attended FOCUS for the first time. The next FOCUS session is planned for tomorrow at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre. Gillison says you can still attend Gadsden State if you have not attended FOCUS 2016. She says to visit your local campus’ advising center to register for classes.
