Moore Denies Claims Made Against Him

Suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore says that he did not order state probate judges to ignore an opinion from the US Supreme Court. Moore's attorneys made that argument today in response to the ethics charges filed against him by the Judicial Inquiry Commission over an Administrative Order concerning gay marriages in Alabama. The 54-page brief charges that the JIC has created a false depiction of his January order, and that the order plainly states that he was providing no guidance to probate judges on the issue because the matter was still pending in the Alabama Supreme Court. Moore is also asking the Court of the Judiciary to dismiss all charges against him.
