Blanchard Steps Down As Piedmont Baseball Coach

The most successful baseball coach in Piedmont history has stepped down. James Blanchard announced that he will not coach the Bulldogs in the upcoming season ending what has been a truly special run.

Blanchard took the job in 2009 and quickly built it into a power in Class 3A. In his eight seasons as head coach the Bulldogs won 162 games and are currently riding a five year streak as area champions. The Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs in seven of his eight seasons and have made some deep runs in the postseason. In 2012, Piedmont finished as the Class 3A state runner-up, reached the semis in 2014 and the third round in 2013 and 2015. Blanchard will stay on as defensive coordinator for the Piedmont football team.
